Holli Workman-Holmes

LCMHCA, MDiv

Holli Workman-Holmes (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who graduated from Campbell University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Divinity. Her clinical experience has focused on providing individual counseling services via telehealth in private practice settings, geared towards clients facing a wide variety of experiences. Prior to her work in counseling, Holli provided spiritual care to adults, teens, and children in progressive church settings for five years.

Identifying as an “L” within the LGBTQIA+ community who was raised in an oppressive religious environment, Holli understands how religious teachings and experiences can damage the soul and psyche of a person. When coming out, she was met with an onslaught of demeaning, destructive messages from family and friends- often said in the name of God- and lost 98% of her community. Supported by those who stayed in her life, she began a long process of reconstruction and healing. Her own story and life experiences led her to pursue a career in mental health counseling with hopes to help others heal from similar experiences. While in school, Holli discovered a greater passion to provide non-harmful, non-judgmental care that meets all clients where they are, allows them to be their full selves, and promotes love and acceptance.

In terms of counseling style and approaches to therapy, Holli has an eclectic approach. She resonates most with person-centered and existential counseling theories and incorporates cognitive behavioral techniques into sessions. She believes that people are experts of their own stories and is eager to learn about their lives from their perspective. She is passionate about walking alongside clients as they search for meaning and purpose, and believes therapy can be used to help clients find wholeness, peace, and empowerment. Her hope is for clients to experience growth in self-love, self-worth, and self-acceptance as they face the good and bad that life may bring.

In addition to working with queer clients and those who have experienced religious/spiritual trauma, Holli provides individual therapy to adults and teenagers who may be experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, social anxiety, depression, relationship issues (including navigating polyamory and ENM), communication issues, career/life transitions, school/work/life stressors, grief, transgender stressors, identity work, and PTSD symptoms related to acute trauma such as medical issues, accidents, and assault.

In her free time, Holli enjoys spending time with her wife and dogs, raising backyard chickens, playing acoustic guitar, writing songs and poetry, and doing almost any outside activity. She considers herself to be an extrovert who is energized by being with people, having spontaneous adventures, and focusing on the fun and humorous sides of life whenever possible.
