Antonique Jones

LCMHCA

Antonique Jones (she/her) is a compassionate mental health advocate and a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate who earned a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from North Carolina State University. Antonique has spent the better part of a decade working in non-profit organizations at all levels, from entry to executive. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational studies and psychology, making her uniquely positioned to understand the challenges faced by BIPOC individuals in their pursuit of a career or in overcoming everyday barriers.

Growing up, moving from place to place and school to school, Antonique found herself shape-shifting. In search of safety, acceptance, and her true identity, she conformed to whatever group she was part of at the time. Antonique’s first career was in the United States Air Force, where she became aware of her struggle with identity. Being part of a militant culture that does not tolerate any form of self-expression fueled her journey of self-discovery – one that is difficult to embark on alone. After years of reluctance due to stigma within her community and family, she sought out a therapist to join her on the journey. Now, she has made it her life mission to help others explore and revise their inner stories to become the authors of their own lives.

Antonique knows there is power in the stories we tell ourselves. These narratives shape our lives and most don't originate from us; they come from friends, family, communities, the workplace, society-at-large, and our experiences. These narratives profoundly impact our sense of self worth, identity, and personal growth. Self-destructive behaviors and negative self-talk can develop as symptoms of oppressive systems and they require work and intention to manage and overcome. Using narrative therapy rooted in creativity, holism, and humanism, Antonique provides a supportive space for clients to develop and strengthen narratives that align with their authentic selves while uncovering and challenging underlying false beliefs. Antonique acknowledges the importance of examining our environments, including our workplaces and interpersonal relationships, to foster genuine growth and transformation. This exploration may involve shifting our perspectives or making changes in our behavioral responses. Through a combination of narrative, interpersonal, and cognitive behavioral therapies, Antonique seeks to enable clients to confidently navigate the complexities of their lives and the world around them. With a belief in reimagining – one’s self, life, and destiny – she encourages clients to access their personal power and potential.

Antonique works with adults of all ages to address a variety of concerns such as self- exploration, inner child work, identity, self-worth, and the pursuit of a sense of belonging. She supports individuals who experience anxiety, as well as fear related to life transitions. Antonique specializes in supporting Black women on their unique journey of self-exploration – particularly women in executive level positions and entrepreneurship.
