Jahkazia “Jae” Richardson

LCSWA

Jahkazia “Jae” Richardson (she/they) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate, a healer, energy worker and educator. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from William Peace University, and then attended North Carolina Central University where she earned a Master’s of Social Work. Jae has also provided tarot and spiritual readings, led healing circles, and engaged in herbalist work.

Jae’s passion towards individual and collective healing stems from her own trauma work. Moving from a predominantly white elementary school to a predominantly Black school in a new city, experiencing continuous bullying, targeted for being the “smart Black kid”, being in a plus sized body, and having a unique sense of style. These challenges led to profound struggles with low self-esteem and created a questioning of her identity and self-worth, even with being surrounded by kids who looked like her. In the midst of these difficulties, half a decade later Jae encountered a social worker who was a guiding light through the darkness. From that day forward, Jae vowed to give other Black and brown folx the opportunity to feel heard through therapy and self-discovery and inspire them to embrace authenticity to navigate the path towards wholeness.

As a clinician, Jae aims to decolonize healing through spirituality and anti-oppressive therapeutic techniques. The intricacies of spirituality became a vital component of Jae's therapeutic philosophy, influenced by the profound impact of her own experiences as a former Jehovah's Witness. This intersection of spirituality and mental health became a potent force for resilience and recovery, influencing Jae's commitment to offering a comprehensive and inclusive approach to well-being.Through her own root work, she discovered her calling was guided by three principles: Healing is resistance. Magic is resistance. Resistance is liberation.

Jae uses collaboration, affirmation and empowerment to support others in their own healing work and practice from a social justice, holistic, and Afro-Spirituality framework. She also integrates skills from narrative therapy, DBT, and IFS into her counseling work. Her desire to break generational traumas runs deeply and vibrationally. As marginalized individuals, she believes we must heal our communities on a spiritual, vibrational, and psychological level. Centering Black and brown bodies, our rights to our power, our magic, our hope, and our wholeness is at the very core of her work - her Being. Wellness is our birthright.

Jae specializes with adults who are creatives, neurodivergent, LGBTQ+, QTPOC, Black and brown femmes, and other fellow healers navigating life’s transitions such as grief, depression, anxiety, boundary setting, and spiritual discernment. Jae's commitment to decolonizing healing extends beyond the therapy room. Through their work, Jae strives to empower individuals to embrace their authentic selves, transcending the barriers imposed by societal norms. Jae centers groups surrounding the radical liberation of Black and brown, fat, queer, and other marginalized bodies, as well as ancestral healing, seasonal depression and attunement, kink, and poly affirmation. She is honored to be allowed to guide others on their transformative journeys toward self-discovery and healing.
