April Bradley

April Bradley (she/her) is a queer, neurodivergent Clinical Mental Health Counseling intern at Nour Counseling, pursuing her Master of Education at William & Mary. She brings a unique perspective to her practice, informed by her lived experiences and a professional background in bioethics, narrative medicine, and a career as an award-winning writer and editor.

April believes that our lives are woven from the threads of our stories, each shaping how we construct meaning and navigate the world. Her approach fosters healing and transformation through acceptance, trust, and compassion, empowering clients to access their inner resources for resilience and growth. She views therapy as a collaborative journey where authenticity and belonging create space for lasting change.

April’s counseling philosophy integrates trauma-informed, attachment-based approaches through feminist, existential, neurodivergent, and queer-affirming lenses. She draws on training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Perinatal Mood Disorders, Expressive Arts, Written Exposure Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. With a growing interest in Internal Family Systems (IFS), she emphasizes the creation of a compassionate and supportive space for exploring inner experiences and fostering healing.

She supports adolescents, adults, and families with a range of concerns, including medical and complex trauma, perinatal and reproductive mental health, chronic illness, disability, gender identity, neurodivergence, and mood and anxiety disorders. Her experience also includes working with clients navigating a history of abuse and relational violence, custody issues, parenting neurodivergent children, and PTSD.

As a SAIGE-certified Affirmative Counselor, April is passionate about providing affirming care to LGBTQIA+ youth and adults, and neurodivergent individuals. Her background as a writer and editor uniquely equips her to help clients reconnect with their creativity and rediscover their inner resilience.

Originally from Middle Tennessee, April lived on the Connecticut Shoreline for most of her adulthood before settling in North Carolina with her spouse, their blended family, and Clementine, their beloved Goldendoodle. In her free time, she enjoys sailing, knitting, and spinning yarn—activities that reflect her love of storytelling and weaving meaningful connections.
