Sherri Ford-Jacobs (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist. She completed her bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University of Chicago and later earned her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from South University in 2018. Sherri is currently pursuing her PhD in counseling and counselor education at North Carolina State University, and her research interests include LGBTQIA+ equity and inclusion, social justice counseling and supervision, and promoting counselor and client wellness through liberation psychology.
Sherri uses an integrative treatment approach grounded in mindfulness, and she prioritizes creating a safe and non-judgmental therapeutic environment for individuals to process, explore, and discover. She borrows from a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy, schema therapy, and solution focused therapy. She works collaboratively with clients to develop culturally responsive treatment plans that empower them to move toward holistic self-actualization.
Sherri works with adults of all ages and various presenting concerns in individual and group counseling. Sherri has a special interest in working with issues related to trauma/PTSD, intimate partner violence, identity exploration, adult attachment issues, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, and LGBTQIA+ issues.
