Asha Simpson

LCSW

Asha Simpson (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker native to Kingston, Jamaica who immigrated to Massachusetts in late childhood. Asha received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Clemson University, and was introduced to the social work profession while working with a nonprofit agency invested in assisting kids and families of diverse backgrounds navigating the social services system in Massachusetts. Asha then pursued a clinically focused master’s of social work at University of Georgia to expand her understanding of systems that disproportionately affect persons of color and contribute significantly to psychosocial circumstances.

Over the course of her career, Asha has worked with individuals across the lifespan, primarily during pivotal transition periods. She works with adult clients of various ethnicities, abilities, and identities in multiple settings, including college, forensic, and community-based settings. Asha has experience helping clients meet goals of managing mood related symptoms, coping with OCD and anxiety, processing trauma, connecting with community resources, developing coping mechanisms for life stressors, and improving overall day-to-day functioning. Through incorporation of CBT and DBT skills-based techniques, mindfulness-based practice, and psychoeducation, Asha employs an eclectic style that meets her clients where they are as they progress toward their therapeutic and life goals.

As a clinician, Asha utilizes her bicultural lens to engage her clients in collaborative and solution focused therapeutic services. She is passionate about incorporating strengths and evidence based practices in therapy and aims to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients aspiring to unravel and explore the psychological and environmental factors that have impacted them on their life journey.
