She holds a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in social work from NC Central University. With over five years of experience providing counseling services in non-profit and private practice settings, Katherine has worked with a wide range of clients—from adolescents to older adults—offering services such as career and academic counseling, mental health counseling, and group facilitation.
Katherine's passion for mental health awareness and wellness is rooted in her own personal journey. Having faced mental health challenges throughout her life, she understands the importance of having a space to process emotions and explore one’s identity. She entered the mental health field with a commitment to creating genuine, safe, and supportive environments where marginalized individuals and communities can find solace, empowerment, connection, and healing.
Taking a liberating and integrative approach, Katherine uses feedback-focused therapy to address both immediate emotional concerns and deeper, foundational wounds. As a person-centered therapist, she tailors each session to the unique needs of the individual, utilizing evidence-based techniques and modalities. Drawing on her own healing journey, Katherine integrates eclectic approaches such as CBT, ACT, somatic practices, mindfulness, self-compassion, faith and spiritual-based elements, solution-focused therapy, EFT, and IFS to support her clients. She is dedicated to holding space for destigmatizing mental health support within the Black community, ensuring that each client has the space to explore and heal.
Katherine specializes in working with adults facing a variety of concerns, including anxiety, depression, self-esteem, life transitions, grief, and stress management. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals with complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) and those seeking to break generational cycles of trauma. Katherine is also LGBTQIA+-affirming and committed to fostering inclusive, healing environments for all clients.
